Who we are

Ramiro and Vicky Granda are the owners of Siempre Verde Farm, which has been in the family for generations. After 37 years of marriage, Vicky and Ramiro know how to work together as a team!

What makes their approach to coffee so unique?

Ramiro is the agronomist and Vicky is the operations manager, but their three children are each involved in the business as well! Martín takes care of customer relations and outreach, David experiments with roast profiles and sensory analysis, and Emilia creates the farm’s graphics. Martín’s wife does the social media content creation.

This belief that each part is important to the whole is key to the Granda family. They also believe strongly in empowering the team members who work on the farm and help make the coffee production possible.

Unlike many coffee farms, Vicky and Ramiro employ their team members year-round rather than just for a season. They believe in supporting the farm’s rural community and strive to provide a nurturing environment for their team.

What makes our coffee special

Our coffee is grown in rich soil and shaded lots, sharing the space with native plants and other crops. We are grateful for the bounty of the land, but we also make sure to preserve the incredible ecosystem that has been entrusted to us—we take, but we don’t over-take. In fact, we are intentional about replenishing and respecting the natural balance.

We are blessed to have mountain springs as our water source. This water is pure and filled with minerals, and most importantly, it is abundant. Having access to pristine water is key for our drip irrigation system, which enables us to water the coffee plants on an as-needed basis.

In addition, our coffee is carefully harvested through a highly selective process of picking and sorting by hand. It passes through many phases of quality control, each one allowing us to continue to refine the coffee until we have only the best yield.

Where the magic happens

Within the Andes mountains of Ecuador is a lush agricultural paradise—our Siempre Verde Farm, which means "always green" in Spanish.

Our farm is located about an hour and a half north of “the middle of the world” (the equator), near the Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve. This creates a unique microclimate that is optimal for our coffee.

We never cease to find our farm stunningly beautiful, with its otherworldly and towering mountainside, colorful flora and fauna, and sky full of powerful, rolling clouds.

In fact, we are looking forward to the day where we can share our love for our farm with more visitors! We are currently working on accommodations for guests, and we have hosted several origin trips for those wanting to learn more about our coffee.

Please contact us if you are interested in an origin trip to our farm!

Why we believe in what we do

There are many reasons our coffee business is so important to us.

Our goal has always been to bring our coffee directly to our customers. Why is this so crucial?

When you get your coffee straight from the producing family, the transparency and traceability are truly unparalleled. You know exactly where your coffee is coming from. You know the methods through which your coffee was grown (guaranteeing fairness, freshness, and quality). And most importantly, you know who the people behind your coffee are.

You see their faces. You know their integrity. You can follow how they are investing your money into their community.

To us, this brings the most value to specialty coffee because everyone is equally respected in the transaction. The farmers and their team can get a reasonable price for the coffee, and the customers can get the assurance that not only is their coffee top-tier, but it is also ethical.
